HORIZONS

Foster Care and Aged Out Youth Wellbeing Initiative

HORIZONS is an initiative of the University of Miami School of Education and Human Development’s Responsible Data Analytics Hub (RDAHub). We bring diverse perspectives together to understand complex social phenomena through evidence-based research across multiple disciplines. By making data-driven inferences and helping practitioners, policymakers, and the public understand research evidence, we aim to shape better policies and practices and to strengthen public awareness of what research says.

Our first project centers on the wellbeing of children in foster care and young people aging out of care — synthesizing the existing research, conducting primary research using qualitative, quantitative, and computational models to build an evidence base, making data-driven inferences, translating research into policies and practices, developing ethical, responsible, and accessible tools, and translating what research says into clear, public-facing language through digital commons and publications.
